What do you think is the most common food allergy in dogs and cats?
- Beef
- Chicken
- Corn
- Wheat

Correct

Yes!! In North America dogs are exposed to beef most often and thus it is statistically more often a problem. The proteins in beef are also similar enough to lamb and bison that they are often a problem too 🙁

Beef is the most common allergen, chicken is a close second. These foods are high in protein that pets are often exposed to. Soy is third, and interestingly more of a problem in Asia. Corn and wheat are much less common as they are lower in protein (the immune system targets proteins).

Chicken is a close second. Vegetables & grain contain less protein (immune system targets) and are less commonly problematic.
